Ripple announced strategic investments in two UK-based firms on Aug. 3 as it works to make tokenized financial assets more usable as collateral on its blockchain infrastructure. The two companies are Zilo, a transfer agency and fund administration technology provider, and Licuido, a tokenization platform regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Financial terms for either deal were not disclosed.

Zilo serves asset managers, custodians, and transfer agents with technology that supports tokenized share classes as investment funds move on-chain. The company has raised $58.7 million in total equity funding, according to data from Traxcn. Licuido focuses on issuing and distributing traditional financial assets in digital form and enables those assets to function as collateral through on-chain atomic settlement.

Addressing Idle Collateral in Capital Markets

Ripple said the two investments together are designed to enable tokenized funds to serve as collateral from the moment they are issued, eliminating steps that currently leave capital sitting idle. The company said global capital markets face inefficiencies tied to slow settlements, idle collateral, and limited liquidity access. Its infrastructure on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) is intended to address those gaps through a combination of issuance, custody, collateral mobility, and atomic settlement.

Nigel Khakoo, Ripple's SVP for trading and markets, said Zilo provides the regulated digital transfer agency layer while Licuido provides the liquidity infrastructure for collateral mobility. He said both capabilities are essential for scaling tokenized fund structures at an institutional level. Khakoo noted that existing Ripple partnerships with Aviva Investors, Franklin Templeton, and DBS show that asset managers are already focused on deploying tokenized fund structures at scale.

The announcement came one week after Aviva Investors launched a tokenized share class of its US Dollar Liquidity Fund on XRPL, following approval from the Central Bank of Ireland. Ripple had first partnered with Aviva Investors in February 2026 to explore tokenizing traditional fund structures on the ledger.

Ripple USD and XRPL's Place in Tokenized Markets

Ripple launched Ripple Mint in July 2026, a platform that gives institutions tools to mint, redeem, and manage its US dollar-pegged stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD). The company positions RLUSD as the regulated cash leg for delivery-versus-payment transactions on XRPL.
