What Is a Blue Verified Badge on CMC Community?

The badge is designed to help CMC Community users identify credible accounts and curate a feed of reliable, expert voices within the crypto space.

Account Types Eligible for Verification

• Projects - Coins, tokens, NFTs listed on CMC
• Exchanges - Spot, derivatives, and DEX platforms listed on CMC
• Organisations - Fintech companies, government bodies, agencies and etc
• KOLs - Influencers, social media creators, YouTubers and etc
• Media - News outlets, blogs, research and analysis publications

General Requirements

Before applying, all applicants must meet the following baseline criteria:

• Familiarity with Community Rules - Read and adhere to the CMC Community Rules in full. Verified accounts are held to a higher standard of conduct.
• Active participation - Regular posting activity on CMC Community is expected and assessed as part of the application.
• Profile authenticity - Your display name, username, avatar, banner, bio, and posts must accurately and professionally represent you, your project, or your organisation.
• Established reputation - Your brand must be trustworthy, verifiable through independent sources, and free from association with unlawful activity.

Verification Criteria by Account Type

Projects

Procedure:

• Register an account at https://coinmarketcap.com using an email address associated with your project. Note: Usernames matching project names are reserved and cannot be set until verification is granted.

• CMC-registered email address (must use official domain)
• Square 400×400 PNG logo
• Display name (must match your official project name exactly)
• Username (must match your official project name exactly; only letters, numbers, and underscores are accepted)
• Bio (maximum 250 characters; must relate directly to your project)
• Official website URL

3. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed. Personal names used in the display name or username field will result in automatic update to official slug, or rejected.

• Verifiability: Your profile or identity can be independently confirmed via news organisations, Wikipedia, industry whitepapers, technical documentation, or confirmed media coverage and partnerships.
• Active posting: You must post on CMC Community on a regular basis.
• Account tenure: If you are applying via the Power User pathway, a minimum account creation period must be met before your application will be considered.
• Content quality: Content must consistently demonstrate above-standard quality. This is a primary criterion and will be assessed closely during review.
• Third-party following: A minimum cumulative following of 10,000 across external social platforms (BSquare, X, Discord, Telegram, Reddit, or similar).
• CMC Community following: A minimum of 2,000 followers on CMC Community.
• Crypto niche: Your content must focus specifically on a crypto vertical, such as DeFi, NFTs, GameFi, or similar.

• Web traffic: A minimum of 30,000 monthly unique visitors to your publication. You may substantiate this with SimilarWeb data or a Google Analytics report.
• Verifiability: Your outlet can be independently confirmed via news directories, Wikipedia, industry references, or documented media coverage.
• Active posting: Regular content publication on CMC Community is required.
• Third-party following: A minimum cumulative following of 10,000 across external social platforms.
• CMC Community following: A minimum of 2,000 followers on CMC Community.
• Crypto niche: Content must focus on a specific area within the crypto industry.

After Submitting Your Application

• The CMC Community team will review your application within approximately two weeks of submission.
• You will not receive an acknowledgement upon submission. You will be notified by email once the review is complete, whether your application has been approved or rejected.
• If your application is unsuccessful, you are welcome to reapply at a later date. Common reasons for rejection include incomplete submissions, name or email mismatches, insufficient follower counts or traffic figures, or profiles that do not meet the stated requirements.

Maintaining Your Verified Status

Once verified, please observe the following:

• Do not alter your display name, username, or profile picture directly, as doing so may affect your verified status.
• CMC Community periodically audits verified accounts to uphold platform integrity. Circumstances that may result in badge removal include: sustained inactivity, breach of Community Rules, dissemination of misleading information, or use of automated engagement tools (bots).
• Where possible, accounts will be notified by email prior to badge revocation, giving them the opportunity to address any concerns raised.
• In serious cases of misconduct, accounts may be permanently suspended without prior notice.
